Casa Fund at COP 28

With a delegation of 17 people, Casa Fund promotes and participates in discussions on topics such as climate financing, rights, and the protagonism of traditional peoples

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the climate COP, is the moment when the most important discussions on conducts and policies to deal with the causes, impacts, and burdens of climate change take place. It is during the COP that international agreements and commitments are made in pursuit of suitable solutions to reverse the global climate crisis in a fair, effective, and rapid manner.

In 2023, COP reaches its 28th edition and will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30th to December 12th. The event will be attended by world leaders, diplomats, scientists, and activists from civil society groups and social movements worldwide.

The Casa Fund will be present at COP 28 with a delegation of 17 individuals, composed of team members and leaders from supported groups representing their communities: riverside dwellers, indigenous peoples, forest dwellers, and quilombola communities. These communities practically demonstrate to us that it is possible to coexist with biomes without destroying them, yet, simultaneously, they are among the populations most vulnerable to the impacts of extreme climate events.

Among the main discussions that the Casa Fund delegation will be involved in are debates on climate financing, climate justice based on fundamental rights, gender relations, protection of environmental integrity defenders of territories, protagonism of traditional peoples, policies focused on peripheries and youth, among other important topics.
